Global tech giant Yango has marked its debut in the flourishing Ethiopian ride-hailing market, with a specific launch in Addis Ababa as part of its broader African expansion agenda. This initiative sees Yango partner with ShuuFare, an Ethiopian tech powerhouse G2G IT Group branch, to lead its foray into the capital.

Yango’s Africa Office Head, Adeniyi Adebayo, showcased enthusiasm about the alliance with G2G IT Group, highlighting the blend of Yango’s advanced tech, broad expertise, and global quality benchmarks with ShuuFare’s deep insight into the Ethiopian market, aiming to deliver a superior ride-hailing service catered to the local populace.

In this collaborative venture, G2G IT Group will act as a franchise holder, overseeing Yango’s service operations within Ethiopia. Tedros Mehari, G2G IT Group’s Chief Technology Officer, underscored the common vision and proficiency in presenting a cutting-edge, dependable, and effective ride-hailing solution poised to revolutionize the sector.

Once ShuuFare starts operations, Ethiopia will be the thirteenth African nation to embrace the Yango ride-hailing service. Tedros reasserted their dedication to harnessing technology to enhance customer experience and fuel Ethiopia’s economic growth, voicing eagerness to roll out this outstanding service to the local populace.

Initially, the Yango and ShuuFare synergy will operate on a cash-only basis, focusing on future integration with local payment systems like Telebirr. Their complimentary mobile app, accessible for free on iOS and Android, caters to Amharic speakers.

Yango’s ride-hailing service extends beyond Africa to many countries across Europe, Central Asia, South America, and the Middle East.

Recently, Yango secured a license to operate in Cameroon, signaling a modification in its growth blueprint following regulatory hurdles encountered in Morocco.
